Many of The California Hiking Page readers have sent me e-mails asking various questions about the type of gear we use.  The majority of the questions have been related to backpacks, footwear, fishing equipment, and especially photography.

Because of this, this section was created to share with you the "Hits and Misses" we have had with various gear.  While this section is not intended to be a general purpose gear guide (those can be found at numerous other commercial websites), it is intended to describe the gear we use and why.
